Hannah and Haddon had one of those wedding days that you want relive over and over again. The perfect weather, good food, vendors that just worked seamlessly together, but mostly, a love that lit up the DAR and had everyone smiling all day.
Hannah and Haddon’s wedding day was everything you could hope for in a late-summer celebration – vibrant, heartfelt, and filled with personal touches that beautifully reflected their story together. Set in the heart of Washington, DC, their day showcased not only their love for each other but also their deep connection to the city they call home.
The morning began at the iconic Willard Hotel, where everyone got ready amid elegant architecture and timeless charm. From there, the excitement carried over to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a historic venue that offered the perfect setting for their celebration.
Their ceremony took place with a breathtaking view of the Washington Monument – a true DC moment! Bright, summery colors filled the space, inspired by Hannah’s Chinese heritage and reflecting the joyful energy of the day. Guests were treated to thoughtful details throughout, from antique hand fans brought from Asia to a heartfelt memorial display honoring loved ones who couldn’t be there. Even the menu celebrated their story, blending flavors from both of their cultures in a way that felt both meaningful and delicious.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the DAR Library, surrounded by historic charm and shelves full of stories, before moving into the O’Byrne Gallery for dinner. The evening continued with dancing under the stars on the Portico, where the glowing sunset over the city made for the most unforgettable backdrop.
One of the most memorable moments? Haddon had a full ritual with the cake cutting (including cutting it to the song of the Space Odyssey), and made sure there was enough for each guest to have a slice of the actual cake.
It was a truly the perfect Labor Day weekend, filled with color, culture, and love. I was so honored to be part of bringing Hannah and Haddon’s vision to life!
